The Panel with Barry Corbett and Marianne Elliott (Part 2)

From The Panel, 4:05 pm on 23 August 2018

After a decline in readers poetry is making a comeback in the United States. The main group taking to poetry again is 18-24 year-olds. They're reading everything from verses on Twitter to Tennyson. What the Panelists Barry Corbett and Marianne Elliott want to talk about. On-line watchdog Netsafe reports a 46 per cent increase in fraud and anti-social online behaviour. Netsafe's CEO Martin Cocker explains what's behind the massive jump in the first half of 2018. Air New Zealand's announced its second highest ever profit with pre-tax earnings of $540M. At the same time it'll be sharing the joy with staff by giving them a $1800 bonus. Geoff Plimmer of Victoria University talks about Air NZ's up-and-down fortunes and why they're giving bonuses rather than pay-rises. New laws will rein-in the sometimes exorbitant fees charged by wheel clamping companies. An amendment to the Land Transport Act will cap the amount that a vehicle can be charged to $100.
