Family violence up, prosecutions down

Figures released by police today show family violence is on the rise, but prosecutions are down. Police launched 121,739 investigations last year, but there were just 16,764 prosecutions. That's down on previous years.

Pauline Gulliver, a research fellow at the University of Auckland, who works with the New Zealand Family Violence Clearinghouse, tells us whether this is a trend or an aberration.
