The Panel with Nevil Gibson and Paula Penfold (Part 1)

From The Panel, 4:03 pm on 16 August 2018

A forensic expert will be brought into the investigation into who leaked Simon Bridges' travel expenses. National MPs have signed a waiver allowing access to their computer systems, as has the general manager of the Parliamentary Service. It seems it's just a matter of time before th eperosn is caught. The panelists, both journalists, weigh in on what they think of this investigation, and whether it will have a chilling effect on whistleblowers. Media have been banned from the grounds of Turangawaewae Marae at Ngaruawahia this weekend for the anniversay celebration of Kingi Tuheitia's koroneihana. It's the first time such a ban has been put in place and comes after a scathing letter was written about the spending of an advisor to the King. RNZ's Shannon Haunui-Thompson gives us an overview of the situation. The annual National Business Review Rich List is out and among the new players are those from the supermarket sector. Owner-operators of grocery stores are raking in the cash, mnay of them having worked their way up the chain of command. We ask the panelists if they'd be keen to quit their day job for a supermarket job, and a shot at a seven figure salary.
