Making it easier to change gender on birth certificates

From The Panel, 4:16 pm on 13 August 2018

MPs are looking to make it easier for people to change genders on their birth certificates, by making a simple statutory declaration, rather than needing court approval.

Male, female, intersex or X (unspecified) would be the options. Family First is objecting to the move, saying changes to historical documents should not be allowed.

Tabby Besley, National Coordinator for InsideOUT, responds to the criticism and explains what this means for the community.
