The Panel with Ella Henry and Barry Corbett (Part 1)

From The Panel, 4:03 pm on 13 July 2018

The nurses held a 24 hour strike yesterday after turning down an offer of pay rises of between 12.5 and 15 percent and 500 extra full-time nurses. The Health Minister David Clark and the Acting PM Winston Peters say there's no more money on offer for nurses. Will any number of strikes change that? Sexual assault counsellor Denise McEnteer is worried that even more trauma could be added to that of abuse victims after an iwi offered a $10 thousand reward for information on an alleged paedophile ring in Tauranga. She explains her concerns to us. Many workers are looking at long-term unemployment when they find themselves out-of-work in their 50s. They feel they're being overlooked for positons they are experienced in and qualified for. As Auckland commits to becoming a more elderly-friendly city an idea has been touted to build adult playgrounds. The theory is that we need not just exercise but also play. Would the Panelists like to have ago on an adult-sized swing or caper along some monkey bars?
