Jo McCarroll tells us about why marmalade needs to be saved.
In this segment Garry Moore talks about the chlorination of the Christchurch water supply. He argues that Water New Zealand is a lobby group that believes water is a private not public benefit.
Water NZ disputes this and says it is not a lobby group, and represents nearly 2000 members - most of whom are working in the water industry. It also believes water should be publicly owned
"We have had no discussions with Christchurch City Council, the Medical Officer of Health, the Ministry of Health or any Government Departments about chlorination of the Christchurch water supply. Chlorination of the Christchurch water supply was voluntarily under taken by the Council in response to concerns raised by the Medical Officer of Health. We are not clear on who Mr Moore accuses us of lobbying Our views on water treatment reflect the findings of the Havelock North Water Inquiry. We believe that all publicly supplied drinking water must be safe to drink and requires a multi-barrier treatment approach except in exceptional circumstances to ensure its safety."
