19th century quote doesn't translate to 21st century NZ

Lawyer Gregory Thwaite used a quote 'The best party has women with a past and young men with a future' on an invitation to a dinner for the New Zealand Institute of International Affairs but says it isn't misogynist. He could also have misquoted the quote and attributed it to the wrong 19th century writer.
