From The Panel, 4:03 pm on 1 May 2018

The Government's set to announce new measures to collect GST on goods bought by New Zealanders overseas. The 15 per cent applies to goods under $400 and has been dubbed the "Amazon tax". The Prime Minister says it's not a new tax, as GST has always been applicable, but before now it hadn't been collected. The panelists tells us what they think. We gauge reaction to yesterday's decision by Auckland councillors to approve a tax on petrol anfd diesel. It's expected to raise $150 million but is that enough to fund transport in the city? The panelists give us their views and we get opinions from listeners who live out of Auckland. Cardinal George Pell, the Catholic Church's most senior leader to be charged with sexual offences, will stand trial in Australia, it was announced today. The 76-year-old was facing multiple charges involving mulitple accusers, but some of the most serious charges have been thrown out by the magistrate. Cardinal George Pell was the Vatican's financial controller when the historic allegations come out. We get the latest from Melbourne. Following on from RNZ's reporting on the meth crisis in New Zealand, we get feedback from listeners and speak to anti-P campaigner, Denis O'Reilly. He's concerned the serious problem may be being over-hyped. We ask him about what he's seen in the community.
