From The Panel, 4:03 pm on 24 November 2017

Christchurch council has passed a bylaw banning parking on grass berms. As of March next year it will be a fineable offence to park anywhere on a grass berm. Businesses are against the move, with line company Orion saying it will hamper staff who park on berms while carrying out maintenance. The panellists tell us if this parking annoys them, or whether this bylaw is a bit over the top. A study has revealed more than a third of senior doctors and dentists have been the victim of bullying behaviour and more than two thirds of medical professionls have witnessed bullying. The report found the behaviour ranged from gossiping to physical violence, to the point that some staff feared going to work. The problem this big we ask the panellists how the industry could find a solution to it. New figures from the Education ministry show teachers are having to physically restrain children from hurting themselves or others 130 times a month. More than half of the cases involved children with behavourial issues. Those in the industry say that's understating the problem. It comes as another prominent school principal calls out the growing expectations being placed on teachers to give social guidance as well as educational. Otago Boys' High School rector Richard Hall tells us soem of the issues he and his staff are encountering. Team New Zealand has bowed to Auckland council, accepting it's wharf extension option for the 2021 America's Cup. The $132 million plan is a compromise from what the team originally wanted but will still see Halsey street Wharf extended to accomodate a waterfront village. The panellists discuss whether those making the decisions considered whether this is thebest option for the regatta. Hamilton councillor Mrk Bunting faces a displinary committee today over his inappropriate messages to a journalist, which has now been called out by the Islamic federation who has labelled the "joke" disrespectful to women and Jesus. It comes as more and more Hollywood men are accused of sexual misconduct. The panellists discuss what happens to the art and legacy of those who were once held in high esteem.
