A court ruling that may have seen many tenants receive rent refunds has been overturned. Originally the Dunedin landlords were stuck with a bill of $10,000, a rent refund to their tenant after she noticed the property she was living in had unpermitted alterations. Following an appeal, the tenant now has to pay it back. We speak to New Zealand Property Investors Federation executive officer Andrew King, who says it's a relief the court ruling has been overturned as it was already starting to set a precedent.
