The Panel with Gordon McLauchlan) and Tony Doe (Part 2)

From The Panel, 4:31 pm on 31 July 2014

Topics - Out of the UK comes the news that drug use is increasing among people aged 30 and above, drug use is neither up nor down among 20-somethings, but 11- to 15-year-olds are turning off drugs, not tuning in. In ten years the numbers experimenting with drugs has pretty well halved, and those in that age group drinking alcohol is down by a third. This is an interesting case example. More than 20 years ago a young Timaru businessman Robin Churchill throttled his wife to death and dumped her body in Lake Tekapo. The Parole Board's just decided - again - to leave him where he is, serving a life sentence for murder. Let's return to a topic that has divided a community. It's the expensive curtain that divides the Devonport library - newly-built after the old one was demolished in March; the new silken, three-metre-high curtain that cost $100,000. A contemporary design from New Zealand designer Judy Millar.
