The Law Commission turned 30 last year. It's responsible for reviewing and developing this country's law, and to make it as understandable and accessible as possible.

It's not a large organisation, currently the Law Commission has four commissioners. Two of them are Donna Buckingham and Helen McQueen.

Some of the law is antiquated, but among the briefs on the Law Commissions' books for 2017 are two relatively contemporary issues: how property should be divided when families break down, and - only on the statute books since 2012 - search and surveillance as it relates to the law.
