Aroha and Attacks: The House of Two Halves

From The House , 10:35 pm on 9 February 2017

With a promise of "deep aroha" and a plea for "practical real-world change" the newest MP introduced himself to the House.

Labour MP Michael Wood won the December by-election in Auckland's Mount Roskill to replace Phil Goff after Mr Goff became Mayor of Auckland and spoke of aroha and balance in his maiden speech to Parliament.

In other business, improved powers have been given to wildlife officers with the passing of the Wildlife (Powers) Amendment Bill and housing is once again pushed to the fore as the main topic for the election year.
