Kohanga should be seen as more than language nest

The former chair of the Maori Language Commission, Haami Piripi, wants kohanga reo to be aligned with early childhood education, not just in language nests. The Kohanga Reo National Trust Board is urging the Government to get back to the table and resolve Treaty breaches upheld by the Waitangi Tribunal in 2012. But Haami Piripi thinks both parties need to be on the same page first. Te Manu Korihi's Leigh Marama McLachlan reports.
