While a Maori rights movement in South Australia is organising protest marches about the government's plans to close down rural Aboriginal communities, a demonstration yesterday in Perth turned violent; A direct descendant of the creator of a renowned haka says its use during the First World War by unarmed Maori soldiers provoked fear in both their European countryman and their enemy; The fourteen Maori taonga stolen from a house near Hastings last week have been returned safely to Te Papa National Museum in Wellington.
