A Maori artist from Taupo is threatening to take tourism operators to court if they don't pay him royalties for visiting a stone sculpture he carved 30 years ago. In a break from tradition, the leadership role of Te Runanganui o Ngati Porou could be filled by more than one person. The Geographic Board has received a formal proposal from the Wanganui District Council to change the spelling of the district's name from "Wanganui District" to "Whanganui District" by adding an 'h'.
