A key recommendation to make it easier for Maori to build on their land has been ignored by government departments; The Minister responsible for Whanau Ora, Te Ururoa Flavell, says some government departments are reluctant to get involved in the social policy; The Northland Regional Council's Te Tai Tokerau Maori Advisory Committee says unpaid rates on Maori land is costing the council millions of dollars and wants people to pay up; New research suggests Maori and Pasifika people are slightly more likely to end up in prison or receive home detention than Pakeha who commit burglary.
