A Moriori Trust has told the Environment Protection Authority that it's opposing a mining company's bid to mine phosphate from the seabed because the trust says it could jeopardise 60 per cent of the country's commercial fishery. A Maori authority is in line to earn hundreds of thousands of dollars a year after signing a deal with a major Manuka honey exporter. The owner of a Maori forestry company says a culture change in the industry is needed to ensure tangata whenua feel supported to speak up when their safety is at stake. Maori Women's Refuge in Hamilton says there's too much talk about how to address family violence rather than action to make it stop.
