A former police officer says the police need to launch a Maori-only recruitment campaign; A Motiti Island hapu plans to call on the London Offshore Consultants as its witness in a possible Environment Court case, after the firm found the owners of the Rena grossly exaggerated the time and cost of getting rid of the ship; The Maori Affairs Committee is calling for more public feedback on the Maori language bill because the earlier submission process was overshadowed by the lead up to the general election; A Wellington researcher's been granted hundreds of thousands of dollars to study Maori law and its role within, and alongside, the current legal system.
