Calls for review of criminal justice system

A top ranking Maori Police officer says it has been acknowledged that there could be some unconscious bias against Maori in the force. The comments come after new statistics revealed the number of young people facing charges, has halved since 2008. But the number of young Maori represented in those statistics has increased. The Minister of Maori Development wants action and says a review needs to take place to address institutional racism in the justice system. From Te Manu Korihi news, Mani Dunlop reports.
