A pilot study at Whangarei hospital has found Maori living in crowded conditions in state houses are suffering worse health issues than those in crowded private housing; Doctors' practices working in Whanau Ora collectives have performed as well as other GP practices on a key topic for the first time; Maori owned company, Whale Watch Kaikoura, says development of the town's peninsula is back on the radar after the economic downturn in 2008 pushed the plans to the backburner; Young Maori farmers are being urged to put their hats in the ring for an annual competition that celebrates their leadership qualities.
