A Wairapapa hapu wants to study the carvings of an ancient argilliate adze found in Lake Onoke so it can trace where it's come from. Three north Taranaki hapu plan to occupy two sites in Waitara for the unforeseeable future because they say they were ignored during the Treaty negotiations process. A University of Auckland lecturer has written the first ever Te Reo Maori article in an educational journal. The Maori Party says environmental issues appear to be of higher importance to voters in Waikato-Hauraki than any other Maori electorate.
