The United Nations has confirmed the first World Indigenous Conference will take place after a lot of uncertainty by delegates worried about whether it would happen. The broadband group, Nga Pu Waea, is taking a wait and see approach to how Te Mangai Paho handles the 30-million-dollar Maori information and communications technology budget. A Moriori leader is praising the Department of Conservation for helping to protect their sacred carved Kopi trees. A Ruapehu iwi says the upcoming Aotearoa Iwi Snow Championships, postponed due to a diesel leak last year, will be the first of its kind to take place on Mount Ruapehu.
