In this final episode of Matangireia as featured on Te Ahi Kaa, former Waiariki MP Te Ururoa Flavell reflects upon his twelve years in parliament. An educator and former tumuaki, he entered parliament on the wave of the Foreshore and Seabed Hikoi in 2004 which ignited the formation of the Māori Party.
Flavell admits that the never felt comfortable in politics but when he lost his seat he didn't want to leave, he describes the loss as 'traumatic'. Watch the full episode here.
