Homelessness in Wellington

From Te Ahi Kaa , 6:09 pm on 26 October 2014

For a moment there, waking during the night surrounded by the sounds of 50 or so sleeping people Suzanne Tamaki, was reminded of sleeping in a wharenui/ whare tupuna at a pā. Only she wasn't at the pā but instead housed in cardboard boxes, in a car park with colleagues of Wellington City Council experiencing the 14 hours homeless event run by the Salvation Army. Maraea Rakuraku trailed Tamaki and met some of the characters that live on Wellington Streets.
