For Calling Home this week we're off to Venice, that city of a hundred small islands in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea, with no roads, just canals and Renaissance and Gothic palaces.
It is also where Christchurch born Mimi Todhunter calls home.
She left New Zealand as a young woman on her OE many years ago.
Mimi has rekindled the grand tradition of the Salonneirre, hosting visitors to the city, taking them on private tours.
