The Musical Chair: Rob McCallum

From Sunday Morning, 10:04 am on 9 May 2021

Last month, New Zealander Rob McCallum became the deepest diving Kiwi ever after achieving a preliminary depth of 10,925 metres (35,843 ft) at the bottom of the Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench southwest of Guam.

To put that distance into perspective, McCallum and his Australian dive partner spared a thought for Sir Ed Hillary when they descended through 8,850 metres [29,035 feet, the equivalent of Everest] and still had another couple of kilometres to go.

He's in the Musical Chair.
