Could consuming more mushrooms reduce cancer risk?

From Sunday Morning, 9:37 am on 9 May 2021

A meta-analysis of 17 observational studies has found that higher mushroom consumption is associated with a lower risk of cancer. Along with being rich in fibre, vitamins and minerals, mushrooms are a great dietary source of two antioxidants -- ergothioneine and glutathione, and it is believed the former may have a protective role against cancer.

Co-author John Richie, a Penn State Cancer Institute researcher and professor of public health sciences and pharmacology, joins the show to explain.
