'Money can't buy me love' said The Beatles in the early 1960s. Ten years later, economist Richard Easterlin concluded more money can't buy us happiness either. The Easterlin Paradox has persuaded policymakers to focus on wellbeing rather than wealth. But how do we know he's right?
