A Taupo woman has described the shock and concern in her small community after a house caught fire on the weekend with a family inside of it - which they believe was deliberately lit.
Police are investigating the house fire in Hatepe as well as four other fires they're treating as arson on the eastern side of Lake Taupo.
Hatepe local Sue Birch told our reporter Jordan Bond neighbours have been trying to support the shellshocked family.
