Lyttelton residents opposed to a seaplane operation in the area are relieved it's now unlikely to go ahead.
A tourism venture Peninsula Air had applied to operate scenic flights in and around the harbour.
The Civil Aviation Authority has objected to the plan, saying in a decision released yesterday Jan 8th that it would be too much of a public safety risk, not only for harbour users but nearby residents and the seaplane operators.
A Governor's Bay resident Rosie Belton was among the residents who lodged objections to the idea.
She told reporter Tracy Neal that while there was some support for the plan, overall there's huge relief in the community.
