This summer we are looking into sports you wouldn't typically hear about on the sports bulletin - and this morning we are looking one that you probably didn't realise was a competitive sport.
Surf lifesavers are a common sight on many of New Zealand's beaches this summer, but many of them will also be preparing for the Surf Life Saving National Championships, this year being held in Gisborne in March.
Talking us through what's involved in the sport is Danny Morrison, the head coach at Mairangi Bay on Auckland's North Shore.
