Harness racing legend Ricky May in hospital after race fall

One of harness racing's biggest names, Ricky May, is in hospital after collapsing in the middle of a race in central Otago, after suffering a medical event.

May is a seven-time winner of the NZ Trotting Cup, New Zealand's biggest annual harness race.

Yesterday afternoon he was driving the race favourite - A G's White Socks - in the Central Otago Cup at Omakau racecourse, when he appeared to fall back in the sulky while the horse continued to race, then fell onto the track.
