Health authorities warns NZ to remain vigilant against measles

From Summer Report, 8:48 am on 2 January 2020

Health authorities nervous about measles spreading the holidays are warning people to make sure they're vaccinated.

Measles is on the wane in New Zealand but new cases are still occuring - especially in Auckland which has been at the centre of New Zealand's outbreak.

There were at least 30 new cases there in December. And in Samoa, the number of new cases in the deadly outbreak is declining, but still very much active there - the first measles case there came from New Zealand.

RNZ's health correspondent, Rowan Quinn, says there's a real worry about the holiday season and the number of people travelling.
