Museum Stop: Okains Bay Māori and Colonial Museum
Our museum stop today brings us to Okains Bay, which is located just 20 minutes from Akaroa. The museum began as a private collection belonging to Murray Thacker, who was the great grandson of some of the earliest pioneers to settle in Okains Bay. It is now a precinct of heritage buildings displaying significant Maori and Pakeha taonga. Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu senior researcher archives Helen Brown joins Anna.
