windscreen washingJeremy editing

Artist Jeremy Leatinu'u has been out filming the nimble young men who wash windscreens at a busy Manukau intersection. What he's captured on video will become his latest art installation.

Jeremy's fascinated with the concept of ownership and the use of public space. It's an interest that stems from a childhood spent in a state house which was regularly invaded by housing officials.

For his last piece of work, Jeremy distorted the seating in a South Auckland bus stop, and then filmed the reaction of those wanting to sit down. Next he's doing something with Venetian blinds.

For Spectrum David Steemson spends a morning at an intersection on the Great South Road while Jeremy works his four video cameras and five fast-moving, squeegie wielding youths.
