After The Khmer Rouge

Kethana Dunnet is Khmer. She was educated in a private French school, partied in Phenom Phen when it was the Paris of South East Asia, was taught to cook by her grandmother and emigrated to New Zealand in the late 1960s.

During the 1970s, news of Cambodia's civil war was sparse in New Zealand. It is estimated that 3 million Khmer perished and still today Kethana does not know what happened to her family. After 25 years of living in New Zealand Kethana has returned to Cambodia with her husband Bruce, and they operate two successful restaurants.
