Sailing Solo

This is a courageous group of sailors based at Auckland's Westhaven Marina. The club's called SailAbility and with a fun and capable coach, Gary Corkin many of these sailors who never thought they'd do anything independently are out there sailing on their own and loving it.

A couple of the teenagers are blind and learn to feel the wind on their faces to get plenty of speed. Some have limbs missing and others are paralysed with spinal injuries. Coach Gary gets everyone out on the water and achieving what was once only a dream.

Sailing solo and competing in a little yacht in international competitions is now a reality for these determined and talented sailors.
