Every two years we create a new opening theme for Our Changing World, using sounds that have appeared in stories during the previous two years. The 2014-15 theme comprises 18 different sounds, the second of which was the sound of a debris flower being simulated in the lab. It’s part of a project to better understand how these water-logged masses of mud and rocks behave in real life, and was from a story featuring Elisabeth Bowman from the University of Canterbury.
