Rex Bionics
A New Zealand company which makes robotic legs has won a contract with the US Army for rehabilitating soldiers who've lost the use of their legs.Rex Bionics - based in Auckland - was started by engineers Richard Little and Robert Irving over a decade ago after Robert developed Multiple Sclerosis ..and the friends thought of ways to help him stay active. The units are essentially an exoskeleton that a person wears with tethered leg straps, an upper harness, and abdominal support.Richard Little says the new contract with the US Army will be about exploring the possibilities of rehabilitation - in some cases for people who have lost multiple limbs.
