Australian carpenter turned obstetrician, Barry Kirby.

Australian Barry Kirby was a working as a carpenter in Papua New Guinea in 1990 when he came across a gravely ill pregnant woman collapsed the side of a remote rural road. The experience prompted Barry to radically change his life. He trained as a doctor, then specialised as an obstetrician, and has worked for years in Papua New Guinnea, trying to reduce the maternal mortality rate. His charity is www.sendhope.org
