Attempts to ban the testing of cosmetics on animals

The Animal Welfare Amendment Bill is currently before the Primary Production Committee, which is due to report back to parliament at the end of the month. The committee is considering an amendment from Green MP Mojo Mathers, which seeks to add a ban to cosmetic testing on animals. Many major cosmetic companies which have previously declared themselves "cruelty free", such as Avon, Estee Lauder and MAC - have started animal testing again because it is now a requirement to enter the lucrative Chinese market Mandy Carter is the head of campaigns for Save Animals from Exploitation - SAFE.
