It's been a long, strange trip for Kenny Rogers who has been making music for over 50 years. His first success came as a member of The First Edition and their psychedelicized 1968 hit 'Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)'. From there, Kenny Rogers & The First Edition produced a string of excellent singles in the late 60s and early 70s that dealt with such 'difficult' subjects as war, racism and religion. After their successful TV series, the band split and Kenny went on to huge solo success thanks to countrified hits like 'Lucille', 'The Gambler' and 'Coward Of The County'. On Kenny Rogers' new album the title track, 'You Can't Make Old Friends', finds him reunited with Dolly Parton, 30 years after their hit 'Islands In The Stream'.
