Back to our earlier story now - We spoke to Gerard Direen, the principal of Linwood Ave primary school in Christchurch who says Child Youth and Family is failing vulnerable children in the city - leaving schools to pick up the pieces. He told us about one of his pupils who is just 9 years old, has been in 9 different foster homes in the past 3 weeks... . And another former student in CYF care has been turning up on the schools doorstep daily - because it is the only place where he feels connected. Child Youth and Family says it is arranging to meet with Mr Direen to discuss his concerns... and admits it doesn't have the right solution at the right time for every child.
