Twenty offenders are now on their second strike under the three strikes legislation - but are they the serious criminals the law was meant to target? Clarification – despite what is said in the introduction, the current “three strikes” law, i.e. the Sentencing and Parole Reform Act 2010, DOES allow a judge to grant parole when, given all the circumstances, the sentence would be manifestly unjust.
