Ten years ago Shawn Bishop and her husband Michael Dixon gave up the corporate lifestyle in the city and set up a sanctuary at Matakana (north of Auckland) for native birds and other rescue animals - including battery hens - to rehabilitate. She also continues to work part time running corporate leadership development programmes.
