Private investment in sports franchises

The Hurricanes have become the first NZ Super Rugby franchise to confirm partial private ownership now that the Welnix consortium has the license to manage the team. Rob Nichol is the Rugby Players' Association executive director, Rob Morrison is the chairman of the Welnix consortium and Richard Boock is a sports journalist.
