The historian, biographer, novelist and former international operatic and concert singer is the author of 18 books, including the award-winning historical biographies Edward Stafford, New Zealand's First Statesman and To Be a Hero: A Biography of Sir George Grey. During his long career as a singer he appeared throughout Britain, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and in Brazil, singing more than 170 different major choral, operatic and orchestral works.
