Dr Katherine Bowden, Member of the NZ Order of Merit for MNZOM, pioneer of the family planning movement. Dr Katherine Bowden started a family planning clinic in Whangarei, half a century ago, and faced opposition at a time when a very conservative society was coming to terms with the arrival of the pill. She recently wrote a memoir called 'Best of Both Worlds'.
