New rules for tenants having pets in their homes take effect from next month. Landlords will now be able to charge a bond for the pet - of up to two weeks' rent.
From December 1, tenants will be able to ask to be able to have a pet at their rental, and a landlord can only reject that on 'reasonable grounds'.
Landlords will be able to issue another bond, separate to the tenancy bond, that covers pet-related damage that is more than fair wear and tear.
The Government's head of Tenancy Services Kat Watson speaks to Kathryn about the rule changes.
